My name is Jen Franklin (she/her). I am a Martial Artist, Registered Yoga Instructor, and Certified Massage Therapist.
Martial Arts Training and Women’s Self Defense
I have been training in Kempo Karate for 12 years and currently hold a 2nd degree Black Belt. I originally joined because I signed my kids up for Karate and I signed up thinking it would be a good workout, never believing I would get my Black Belt, let alone become an instructor. Little did I know that I would fall in love with the training and the community. I started teaching Women’s Self-Defense Classes in 2017 after I got my first degree Black Belt. Then in 2019 I got my 2nd degree Black Belt and I am currently working towards my 3rd degree. Working through the ranks has been a journey that challenged and changed me.
Yoga Training
I discovered Yoga in 2018 when I joined a women’s group focusing on Ayurvedic Habits. Being on my mat felt so good in my body and in looking to dig deeper into my own practice, I signed up for Empowered Yoga Teacher Training with Jaime Hanson. What a life changing experience! Through that program I explored my love for Yoga and found that I wanted to add teaching Trauma-Informed classes along with the Women’s Self-Defense Workshops. I have also studied with Zabie Yamasaki, taking her Transcending Sexual Trauma Through Yoga training and certification.
Massage Therapy Training
Eighteen years ago I went to CALCOPA Massage school to become a Massage Therapist. Before I was able to go into that field I started a family and was never able to finish my certification. I’m happy to say that after 18 years I completed my training and received my certification. I am now offering 60 or 90 minute theraputic, relaxation, and deep tissue massage.
I am so proud to offer three different services, Women’s Self-Defense Classes, Trauma-Informed Yoga, and Massage Therapy.
